Oldsmobile built 35.2 million cars during its 107-year life and was a pioneer in mass production, front-wheel drive technology, and overhead-valve V-8 engines. When GM discontinued the company in 2004, Olds was the oldest automaker in the United States and one of the oldest automakers in the entire world.
