Polestar Agrees To Use Tesla Charging Ports And Partners With Volvo

Along with Volvo, Polestar has agreed to use Tesla’s proprietary charging ports, giving it access to the American company’s extensive fast charger Supercharger network. Polestar and Volvo EVs will be equipped with NACS ports starting in 2025, known as the North American Charging Standard. Adapters for previous models are expected to arrive next year. Polestar and Volvo are the two latest and first foreign automakers to announce a switch to NACS ports, with Ford, GM and Rivian already making the transition. Update 6/29/23: This story has been updated with information regarding Polestar’s announcement. Adopts Tesla’s NACS charging port. As Volvo’s performance and electric vehicle subsidiary, the details of Polestar’s deal are virtually identical, with NACS ports added to all models from 2025 and adapters for current CCS charger-equipped vehicles arriving mid-next year. I plan to. A seismic shift in how electric cars are charged is gaining momentum as more and more automakers agree to adopt Tesla’s proprietary charging port, known as Northport.
