Volvo Cars has signed a multi-year strategic partnership with StoreDot, a manufacturer of ultra-fast charging (XFC) EV batteries. Volvo Cars and StoreDot teams will work together to develop an XFC cell that will be optimized and tailored to Volvo’s future EV architecture. The first samples are expected to be available for testing in 2024. Javier Varela, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO of Volvo, said: Volvo Cars is already a strategic investor in StoreDot, and this newly agreed partnership takes our relationship one step further. We are pleased to collaborate in the development of advanced sample cells for future EVs. There is much work to do, but the opportunity to co-develop exciting new charging technologies is huge. We can’t wait to see the results of our work put to the test in the real world. StoreDot’s strategic investors also include Polestar, Daimler, Samsung, VinFast, and TDK. In April, VinFast announced that it would immediately adopt the first technology in its EVs.
