Rivian has applied for a patent for a rear tailgate that uses a motor to open and close the glass, allowing the rear glass to open independently. Perhaps more interesting than the tailgate is that Rivian’s patent indicates that it will use physical switchgear to operate the vehicle, rather than the on-screen buttons that current Rivians are limited to using. A patent application has revealed the design of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado ahead of its full reveal next year. The Silverado’s new headlights feature C-shaped LEDs similar to those on the current Tahoe and Suburban.
